My Brewery

Infected Brew
March 851. LH and RH both regulate flow using valves!

Mashtun & Kettle with sightglasses

The whole shebang!

Again, with more of the bench.

3 vessels connected via a 2-head pump.
Middle Vessel is a 58L SS Keg with 2 x 3000W electrical elements with welded fittings (sight glass is weldless).
HLT is a 55L Aluminum keg with weldless fittings
Mashtun is a 58L SS keg with weldless fittings
Pump is a March 851 model (kodak refurbish)
Typical session so far:
  • Start the session with Mash water (16L or so), heat to strike temp + 5C.
  • Pump from kettle to Mashtun, wait for strike and incorporate grain
  • Heat sparge water (40L or so) to boiling
  • Pump from kettle to HLT
  • Recirculate Mashtun using the pump
  • Sparge with one head, drain the mashtun into the kettle using the other heat
  • Boil , chill, whirlpool, move to fermenter
  • Empty/Rinse all the vessels
  • Fill kettle and Mashtun with Solid(tm) cleaner solution, recirculate water between two vessels while boiling for 1 hour

More later when I actually get this to work (last two sessions were disastrous, got stuck mash and clogged kettle that ended up in infections. Since added copper manifolds in the mashtun and the kettle, we'll see what that does...)

Pretty cool! I would like to see it in action. I still have a few questions I guess...
